Sri Lanka Premier League Schedule or Time table for 2013
Good news for Sri Lanka cricket fans, the 2nd edition of Sri Lanka Premier League (SLPL), is going to take place from 10th August to 7th September, 2013. SLPL is a franchise based Twenty20 cricket competition of Sri Lanka. The news of SLPL 2013 happening has been recently confirmed by Sri Lanka's Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage.

It’s been nearly a month since the completion of the Indian Premier League. And now once again, it's time for some good T20 cricket. Yes, the SLPL or the 2012 Sri Lanka Premier League is approaching. The 2012 season of SLPL will be the debut edition of the tournament. The SLPL 2012 tournament will feature 7 provincial teams. Each team is allowed to include a maximum of 18 players with up to a maximum of 6 foreign players. It is mandatory for each team to have at least one local under 21 player and a maximum of 4 four foreign players. This season will be played between 10 August and 31 August 2012.
In fact, the tournament was scheduled to be played in 2011. In May 2011, Sri Lanka Cricket planned to organize the tournament with 7 teams, each representing a province. It was to be held from July 19 to August 4 at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. However, the BCCI refused to let the Indian players participate in the tournament. Furthermore, allegations of corruption and incompetence by SLC put the tournament at serious risk. So, the tournament was postponed to 2012.
The 7 teams participating in SLPL 2012 include Basnahira (Captain: Tillakaratne Dilshan) from Western Province, Kandurata (Captain: Kumar Sangakkara) from Central Province, Nagenahira (Captain: Shahid Afridi) from Eastern Province, Ruhuna (Captain: Lasith Malinga) from Southern Province, Uthura (Captain: Muttiah Muralitharan) from Northern Province, Uva (Captain: Chris Gayle) from Uva Province and Wayamba (Captain: Mahela Jayawardene) from North Western Province. All the matches will be played at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo and Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Kandy. The team squads for the Sri Lanka Premier League are listed here.
